Introducing UCIF: The Association that Brings Together Companies in the Surface Treatment Sector in Italy
We are pleased to present UCIF, the association that unites companies in the surface treatment sector in Italy. As a member of UCIF, we at ALIT firmly believe in the value of collaboration to address the challenges of our industry. UCIF is more than an association; it is a community dedicated to the promotion of innovation, quality and sustainability. The association provides technical and training support to its members, creating an environment conducive to sharing experiences and developing cutting-edge solutions.
On the occasion of the first issue of UNCOATED, we asked UCIF to write some lines to introduce itself to our readers and tell them about the mission of the association!
UCIF, Unione Costruttori Impianti di Finitura, is the trade association that represents the Italian companies operating in the field of finishing plants. For more than fifty years, UCIF has set itself the goal of promoting the development of the sector, strengthening the technical and managerial skills of its members and encouraging the creation of a collaborative network to face together the challenges of the global market.
The purpose of UCIF
UCIF undertakes to:
- Represent the interests of the sector in national and international institutions;
- Provide technical, regulatory and training support to associated companies;
- Create opportunities for networking and sharing best practices;
- Promote technological innovation and sustainability in the finishing plant sector.
A dynamic board
UCIF pays particular attention to the dynamics and evolution of its Board of Directors, a key element to ensure an innovative and forward-looking approach. The introduction of new advisers, such as Loris Rossi representing ALIT, enriches the Board with new competences and perspectives. This synergy strengthens the association’s ability to respond to the needs of the sector and anticipate market changes.
The SMART portal
UCIF also continues to invest in innovative tools to support its member companies. The SMART Portal is an innovative digital space designed to become the online reference point for the industrial finishing sector. Originally conceived as a support dedicated to the S.M.A.R.T. Conference (Surface. Technology. Advanced. Research. Trends.), the portal has quickly evolved into a complete platform for exploring core topics such as sustainability, industry 4.0, digitalization, Economics and events.
The SMART portal is organised in thematic sections which allow for targeted and in-depth consultation. Each section offers content of great informative value, coming from authoritative sources, and is designed to meet the needs of companies, professionals and enthusiasts in the sector. Users can access news and updates not only on UCIF associates, but also on the trends and broader perspectives of industrial finishing, with a particular focus on the Italian and international scenarios.
A dedicated section is reserved for the S.M.A.R.T. Conference, where materials from past editions are available, including papers presented. In addition, the portal will provide regular updates on the next edition, S.M.A.R.T. 4, scheduled for 20 May 2026 at the Centro Congressi Fondazione Cariplo. The central theme of the conference will be: Sustainability is value creation: how innovation, AI and digitalisation drive change.
Thanks to these initiatives and the continuous evolution of its activities, UCIF confirms itself as an essential reference point for companies in the finishing plants sector, promoting growth and competitiveness of the entire sector.
