ALIT Academy Magazine n. 2 has been released

March 21, 2022. The second issue of ALIT Academy Magazine presents the products and technologies that will be presented at PaintExpo 2022.

The time in which we are living is characterized by a fast-moving industrial market. The cost of raw materials is constantly increasing, and their availability is limited. And yet, companies do not brake: they accept, even if with some complaints, the increases, but at the same time, they start looking for alternative solutions in order to reduce costs.

For months we have been living this situation and for as many months, ALIT has been trying to adapt its procedures to keep up with the market, listening to the requests of its customers and partners and then offering concrete solutions.

This issue of ALIT Academy Magazine will be particularly rich, because we will present what we have recently developed to optimize the filtration of paint stripping baths and thus allow tangible economic savings to companies that use our products.

We will also be presenting FLUORIDITE, a new chemical product developed entirely by our laboratory team, which is essential for all companies operating in the aluminium coating sector that are experiencing problems with the fluorides limit in wastewaters.

Finally, we will be presenting a new entry to the ALIT range, ready to change the way in which we strip and recover items with coating defects: FASTRIP S, a spray machine capable of working at high temperatures (130°C) quickly and of adapting to the growth of the company thanks to its modular concept.

All these innovations fully demonstrate our expertise in the sector and, above all, enable us to welcome you to the PaintExpo 2022 trade fair in Karlsruhe (Germany) in April. It will be an opportunity to see many of you again, meet new customers and provide you with all the information you need.

The winning combination of Fastrip S and Metalstrip

Find out the results that a paint stripping contractor has achieved thanks to the Fastrip S plant and the products of the Metalstrip range developed by ALIT Technologies.

When it comes to paint stripping, each company relies on a different technology according to the specific needs of the parts it treats. In the case of paint stripping contractors, however, it is important to implement solutions that allow processing components of all types and in all sizes. The chemical paint stripping industry typically uses the immersion technique, because it enables the whole workpiece to be covered and therefore provides optimum results.

In order to further optimise its services, Sverniciatura Veneta S.r.l. took an interest in high-temperature chemical paint stripping through spray systems. This is why it decided to install a Fastrip S machine, developed in recent years by ALIT Technologies.

After initial reluctance to embrace such a major technological change, the company worked with ALIT’s engineers to customise a machine that would meet its needs and be able to reach the temperature required by the company (110 °C) in order to achieve high quality results through a faster spray paint stripping process. The company is now capable of providing its customers with uniformly and optimally paint stripped products, while having improved the environmental impact of its processes and reduced resource consumption.

ALIT Technologies presents the innovative Fastrip AP system for the paint stripping of aluminium profiles

June 10, 2021. The paint stripping of defective products is an essential step of a manufacturing process, and being able to carry it out in complete autonomy means bringing important benefits to the production chain. The new Fastrip AP system enables to strip aluminium profiles up to 8 metres long: in about three hours, defective profiles can be stripped, rinsed, and delivered ready to be reprocessed again.

ALIT Technologies, specialised in the chemical paint stripping of aluminium, zinc, and metallic alloys and headquartered in San Bonifacio (Verona, Italy), has developed Fastrip AP, a compact off-line plant that enables small batches of aluminium profiles to be stripped quickly. This technological solution will enable to recover defective profiles without any loss of productivity. Like in-line chemical paint stripping plants devoted to hooks and high-performance, low-environmental impact chemical formulations, the new Fastrip AP system can be integrated into already existing processing lines or installed as a stand-alone system, possibly integrated with other ALIT paint stripping technologies. Fastrip AP is a paint stripping system suitable for all aluminium manufacturers, extruders, converters, or custom coaters, who will thus be able to restore badly painted profiles efficiently, cost-effectively, quickly, and without burdensome logistics.

Technical features of Fastrip AP

The Fastrip AP paint stripping system can accommodate 30 to 70 aluminium profiles up to 8 metres long. In just 3 hours, the material is ready for reprocessing, significantly reducing the time required by the production chain. It is a compact system with two tanks (one for the stripping, one for the static or dynamic rinsing) – with a usable cross-sectional area of 50 cm x 50 cm – and a loading and unloading station. The operator can approach the plant with a wheeled basket containing the material to be stripped, similarly to what is done with immersion pre-treatment plants. The machine automatically hooks up the basket, lifts it, and starts the first cycle in the paint stripping tank, which contains ALIT’s environmentally friendly alkaline paint stripper Metastrip 1333/1. The machine’s handling system allows continuous “swinging” (i.e., a quiet vertical movement of the basket), which increases the performance level of the paint stripping bath. At the end of the cycle, the operator can assess the cleanliness degree and decide whether to continue with the paint stripping process. The system then automatically transfers the basket to the rinsing tank, where the swinging movement continues. Finally, the basket is transferred to the unloading station, which also includes a drip tray.

The paint stripping tank has a variable temperature (between 45° C and 60 °C) and it is equipped with a lid. Its heating system is electric and the heating elements are fixed to the outer wall to prevent contact between the heat source and the liquids, in order to guarantee maximum safety against any risk of fire. The tank is also set up for air suction at low hertz if the lid is closed, but able to increase frequency once it is opened; emissions must then be channelled into a fume abatement system. The tank is ready to connect to a suction system, which can be either already existing at the customer’s factory or supplied separately by ALIT.

ALIT Technologies is currently concluding the latest internal tests of Fastrip AP’s prototype system. After fine-tuning, the system will be made available to customers, who can see and evaluate it in-person at the San Bonifacio site.

ALIT’s Fastrip AP System for Sustainable Paint Stripping of Aluminium Profiles

With the new Fastrip AP, in about three hours, defective profiles can be stripped, rinsed, and delivered ready to be reprocessed again.

Aluminium is considered the material of the future as it is light, versatile, sustainable, and fully recyclable, but it needs to be returned to its raw state in order to obtain an optimal product to reprocess.

ALIT has recently developed a new system called Fastrip AP, a compact off-line plant that enables small batches of aluminium profiles to be stripped quickly. This technological solution will especially enable coating contractors to recover defective profiles without any loss of productivity.

Like in-line chemical paint stripping plants devoted to hooks and using high-performance, low-environmental impact formulations, the new AP system can be integrated into already existing processing lines or installed as a stand-alone system, possibly integrated with other ALIT paint stripping technologies. This makes AP a paint stripping system suitable for all aluminium manufacturers, extruders, converters, or coaters that need to restore badly painted

profiles efficiently, cost-effectively, quickly, and without burdensome logistics.
