UNCOATED: THE NEW MAGAZINE BY ALIT TECHNOLOGIES!

It’s finally here!

The first issue of UNCOATED is online and ready to download 👉 [click here]

It marks the beginning of a new journey — a fresh perspective on the world of industrial paint stripping. We’ve always believed in the power of communication, in telling real stories about our sector. We’ve done it through technical content, with concrete case studies designed to help clients and professionals understand how ALIT works. We’ve done it in a human way, putting people before their roles. And yes, we’ve done it creatively — with color, personality, and a touch of irreverence. And we’re still doing it.   UNCOATED brings all of this together, but with a sharper edge, a stronger voice, and a desire to go even deeper.

Because UNCOATED is something else.

It feels even more like us. A magazine that talks about equipment, chemistry, production processes, and sustainability — but with a different voice. A voice that wants to tell the story of industry as it really is: alive, concrete, and constantly evolving.

What we’ve always avoided is uniformity — doing things a certain way just because “that’s how it’s done.” That mindset doesn’t fit us. That’s why we created UNCOATED: our magazine about industrial paint stripping!

Don’t be fooled by the bizarre visuals, the bright colors, or the bold graphics. Beneath the surface, there’s real substance. Because yes, it’s absolutely a magazine about industrial paint stripping. Made in our own way.

And if you know us, you know — it’s never just about the look. 😉

Our FIRST time at MECSPE Bologna!

It was an intense three days during which we made new connections and strengthened collaborations with partners and suppliers. The response from visitors exceeded our expectations, and our brochures were in high demand!

We presented some of our flagship solutions: DRIZZLING technology for chromium-free pretreatment of aluminum and ferrous alloys, the robust and compact Fastrip T2 120 Mix, and our signature solution for in-line stripping of hooks and frames, Fastrip ISP

A major highlight of this edition was the area dedicated to MAS-KING, our new brand for industrial masking. With its bright colors and a vast display of caps, tubes, and tapes, it captured the interest of many professionals and curious visitors, achieving remarkable success. As our Sales Manager, Elena Giusti, pointed out:

I’m pleased with the turnout and the curiosity that Mas-king attracted during this event. It was a pleasure to meet our loyal customers, who took the opportunity to visit us.

Throughout the three days, we were also joined by our friends from UCIF, to whom we dedicated a space in our booth, allowing them to present the association and expand their network of collaborators.

Finally, true to ALIT tradition, we set up a dedicated photo area where everyone could stop by for a snapshot! This time, we chose a setting inspired by our homeland: the Venetian vineyard. With a small “old tavern-style” table, we had fun recreating the atmosphere of a lunch among the vines, taking photos to evoke the charm of times gone by.

In conclusion, we can confidently say that this trade fair was a great success for ALIT. We are happy with the results achieved, the interest generated, and, above all, we are confident that the relationships built during these three days will prove to be fruitful and long-lasting. One of the aspects that impressed us the most was the strong participation of young students from schools and universities, demonstrating a renewed interest in the manufacturing world among the new generations.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit us—see you at the next fair!

Types of Paint Stripping Processes

Mechanical Paint Stripping

Mechanical paint stripping is a process using abrasive grit to remove layers of paint through high-speed impacts. It has several advantages: it is quick and effective and removes even thick coating layers without using chemicals. In addition, versatility in the choice of abrasives allows the process to be adapted to different materials, ensuring optimal results.

However, there are also disadvantages. The wrong choice of grit can damage the substrate, especially if the material is delicate. Mechanical paint stripping can also generate dust and debris, which calls for appropriate waste management and safety measures for operators. Finally, the cost of equipment and maintenance can be a limiting factor for some companies.

Pyrolytic Paint Stripping

Pyrolytic paint stripping is a technique that uses heat to remove paint. This procedure occurs in an oven at high temperatures, which causes the coating to decompose.

Pyrolytic paint stripping is exceptionally effective because it can remove even particularly thick layers of paint. It does not use harsh chemicals, reducing environmental impact.

However, it also has some drawbacks. Operating costs can be high in terms of both energy consumption and the initial investment required to purchase and maintain the plant. It should also be highlighted that it is not a suitable paint stripping method for all types of materials, as high temperatures can damage some delicate substrates.

Paint Stripping with chemicals

Chemical stripping employs solvents to dissolve paint, making it a common choice for delicate and precise removal tasks.

One of the main benefits of this method is its adaptability. It is suitable for a wide range of materials and removes paint without harming the underlying surfaces. Additionally, the upfront costs are usually more affordable compared to pyrolysis.

However, using solvents raises safety and environmental concerns. It is crucial to use proper protective gear and handle solvent waste responsibly. Also, the process may take longer than pyrolytic methods.

Fluidized Bed Paint Stripping

Fluidized bed paint stripping uses a heating system to decompose paint by immersing the part in a tank containing sandy, refractory material at about 400 °C. This method’s benefits include the ability to remove paint without damaging the substrates, making it ideal for applications that require gentle processing. Moreover, the extraction and neutralization technology for gaseous emissions helps maintain a safe and sustainable work environment.

However, fluidized bed stripping can have high initial equipment installation and maintenance costs. Cycle times can be longer than with faster methods such as mechanical paint stripping. Finally, it is necessary to adequately train the operators to manage the system safely.

Cryogenic Paint Stripping

Cryogenic paint stripping takes advantage of extreme cold, immersing the part in liquid nitrogen to cause a thermal shock that facilitates paint peeling. Among its advantages, it is highly precise and safe because it does not use harmful chemicals and does not cause deformation in heat-sensitive materials. It is also effective in removing complex coatings, ensuring high-quality results.

However, there are also some disadvantages associated with this technology. Installing and maintaining cryogenic facilities can be expensive, limiting accessibility for some companies. In addition, using liquid nitrogen requires specific measures for the safety of operators, as extreme cold entails risks of frostbite. Finally, the availability of liquid nitrogen can be a logistical challenge in some areas.

Innovative Technologies

New and innovative technologies, such as laser and ultrasonic paint stripping, have also emerged recently. These process methods combine the effectiveness of traditional techniques with a lower environmental impact and reduced operating costs.

Laser paint stripping enables to remove paint layers precisely and without damaging the substrates. Ultrasonic paint stripping, on the other hand, uses vibrations to dissolve paint, ensuring a quick and clean process.

However, these technologies can be expensive to implement, and they require specific equipment and trained personnel.
