In the world of industrial manufacturing, process optimization and quality control are crucial for competitiveness and outstanding results. COLMA, a respected name in the design and manufacturing of window systems and curtain walling, has always relied on innovation to enhance its processes and deliver top-tier products to clients. In this context, their partnership with ALIT Technologies has marked a significant leap forward, especially in the aluminum surface treatment process, enhancing product performance to even higher levels.
Who is COLMA s.r.l.?
Founded in the 1990s, COLMA has become a leading company in the window and curtain wall sector, with manufacturing facilities spanning over 30,000 m² of covered space. Specializing in multiple processes such as sheet metal cutting and bending, curving, painting, and aluminum decoration, COLMA provides certified and guaranteed solutions. Their mission is clear: to support window manufacturers, design studios, and showrooms with high-quality products and highly customized services.
Alongside their commitment to quality, COLMA prioritizes environmental sustainability. They utilize photovoltaic systems to power their plants and have achieved an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), confirming the optimization of production processes and significant reduction of waste.
The Challenge: Enhancing Performance and Customization
As a continually evolving company, COLMA pursued an advanced solution to optimize chemical conversion treatment on aluminum before painting. Their traditional spray-based process, which involved immersion tanks, presented limitations: it was neither selective nor tailored enough for different types of metal sheets and paints, making precise control difficult.
COLMA clearly required a system that allowed enhanced customization of surface treatment, minimized waste, and provided greater accuracy and automation throughout the process.
ALIT’s Solution: The Drizzling System
In response to this need, ALIT Technologies introduced the Drizzling system, an advanced technology for metal surface treatments offering significant advantages compared to traditional methods.
ALIT’s Drizzling system enables remote-controlled and customized dosing of the conversion product, tailored specifically to client requirements and the type of metal sheet used. The system also offers remote and local alarm monitoring, ensuring continuous control and enhanced operational safety.
The operating principle behind the Drizzling system is straightforward yet revolutionary: the passivation solution is continuously and precisely mixed with demineralized water, ensuring the freshness and purity of the solution. This freshly prepared mixture is then atomized directly onto metal surfaces, eliminating the need for a recirculating passivation tank.
Advantages of the Drizzling System
Adopting this innovative technology delivered concrete and measurable benefits for COLMA:
Elimination of the passivation tank: Thanks to the minimal volume of atomized solution required, there’s no longer a need for a chemical recirculation and recovery system.
Always-clean solution: Using a reduced volume of liquid ensures the passivation solution remains consistently fresh, preventing the accumulation of contaminants.
Optimized space utilization: The demineralized water supply tank can be conveniently located outside the production line, making integration easy, even in existing facilities.
Enhanced precision and control: The Drizzling system provides uniform and precise passivation, significantly improving chemical conversion quality and reducing painting defects.
In terms of production optimization, the new system has allowed COLMA to:
Reduce chemical product and demineralized water consumption;
Improve reproducibility and consistency of chemical deposits;
Minimize waste and optimize resource management;
Integrate continuous remote monitoring, increasing accuracy and reducing corrective interventions.
COLMA CEO Giuseppe Colantonio’s Perspective
The collaboration with ALIT Technologies was warmly received by Giuseppe Colantonio, CEO of COLMA, who stated:
“A year ago, we decided to partner with ALIT to enhance the performance of post-painting sheet metal bending. The improvements were tangible and impressive. Recently, we were looking for a direct dosing system for conversion products, and ALIT proposed a remotely integrated solution, exactly matching our requirements. We are extremely satisfied with their support and the results achieved. Now we can consistently guarantee top-quality deposits under any substrate conditions.”
Adopting ALIT Technologies’ Drizzling system marked a turning point for COLMA in managing aluminum surface treatment. Thanks to this solution, the company has optimized processes, reduced operational costs, and guaranteed superior product quality for its customers.
This collaboration demonstrates how technological innovation, coupled with a strategic focus on continuous improvement, can significantly impact the industrial sector. ALIT and COLMA continue their partnership, committed to refining processes further and developing increasingly tailored solutions for manufacturing needs, with a pragmatic and results-oriented approach.

Some projects don’t end with installation, they evolve. Because even a well-functioning system can be pushed further, refined, and adapted when production needs shift. That’s what happened after a Drizzling system was installed at Reynaers’ facility in Poland. Specific requirements emerged during operation, involving passivation thickness and process consistency under real production conditions.
To address them, we didn’t just provide support, we launched a dedicated R&D effort, involving both our technical team and the experts at Alufinish Germany.
A shared approach to a shared process
Since the Drizzling system operates in synergy with Alficoat chemistry, developed by Alufinish, close coordination was essential. Their team joined us at ALIT headquarters for a full-scale testing session, using our pilot Drizzling system to replicate part of the aluminium pre-treatment process with maximum control.
Together, we worked on fine-tuning dosing parameters, process stability and material preparation. The joint effort gave us new insight into how chemistry and technology interact in non-standard scenarios.
Post-sales as a platform for innovation
This wasn’t just troubleshooting it was a case where post-sales turned into structured development. It involved close collaboration among the companies involved, each contributing their expertise to respond effectively to a complex technical scenario.
The collaborative tests delivered clear improvements and helped define new application strategies. The work is ongoing, but the value is already evident: turning field feedback into technical progress, through shared know-how and fast, focused action. This project also reflects ALIT’s commitment to listening to our customers and providing the support they need to pursue and achieve their process goals.

Welcome back to Chemistry Under the Lens, our blog series dedicated to the latest regulatory developments in the chemical industry. Today, we sit down with Dr. Filippo Busolo, an expert in chemical substance management and dangerous goods transport safety, to discuss the recent updates introduced by Regulation (EU) 2024/2865. This new regulation brings significant changes to labeling requirements and poison centre notifications. Let’s dive in!
Label Updates: What’s Changing?
Let’s start with label updates. What are the main changes companies need to be aware of?
Dr. Filippo Busolo:“The new regulation sets strict deadlines for updating labels. If a substance or mixture is reclassified with a new hazard class, a stricter classification, or requires new hazard statements (EUH) under Article 25, the supplier must update the label without delay and within six months of receiving or being informed of the new evaluation. For other types of changes, the deadline is 18 months. However, if the modification is due to a harmonized classification and labeling set out in a delegated act, the update must be implemented by the specified date in the act itself. These obligations take effect on July 1, 2026.”
Digital vs. Physical Labels
How will the integration of digital information impact product data communication?
Dr. Filippo Busolo:“The regulation introduces the possibility of providing some information in digital format. All label elements must still be physically present on the packaging, but certain supplementary details, as outlined in Section 1.6 of Annex I, may be provided exclusively in digital form. Companies may also opt for dual-format labeling, both physical and digital. In this case, they must ensure that the information is accessible free of charge and independently of purchase—whether through an oral or written request or in case of temporary unavailability of the digital label.”
New Requirements for Physical Labels
Are there new requirements regarding physical labels?
Dr. Filippo Busolo: “Yes, the regulation establishes minimum dimensions for labels, pictograms, and text to enhance readability and consistency. Here’s a breakdown of the new provisions:
For packages up to 0.5L: Labels should be at least 52×74 mm, pictograms at least 10×10 mm (preferably 16×16 mm), and a minimum font size of 1.2 mm.
For packages between 0.5L and 3L: Labels should be at least 74×105 mm, pictograms at least 23×23 mm, and a minimum font size of 1.4 mm.
For packages between 3L and 50L: Labels should be at least 105×148 mm, pictograms at least 32×32 mm, and a minimum font size of 1.8 mm.
For packages between 50L and 500L: Labels should be at least 148×210 mm, pictograms at least 46×46 mm, and a minimum font size of 2.0 mm.
For packages over 500L: Labels must be at least 148×210 mm, pictograms at least 46×46 mm, and a minimum font size of 2.0 mm.
Additionally, text must be printed in black on a white background, with line spacing at least 120% of the font size and using a sans-serif font for maximum clarity. Foldable labels will be allowed, provided they meet the criteria set out in Annex I of the CLP Regulation. These provisions will apply starting January 1, 2027.”
Poison Centre Notifications: What’s New?
Let’s talk about poison centre notifications. What changes does the new regulation introduce?
Dr. Filippo Busolo:“One of the most significant changes concerns the notification obligations for distributors. Previously, only importers and downstream users were required to provide information on hazardous products. Under the new regulation, distributors selling in other Member States or relabeling hazardous mixtures must also submit notifications to poison centres. This change aims to minimize information gaps in the supply chain, ensuring poison centres have access to accurate and complete data to respond effectively to health emergencies.”
Are there any exemptions for distributors?
Dr. Filippo Busolo:“Yes, distributors may be exempt from the notification requirement if they can demonstrate that the relevant information has already been submitted to authorities by importers or downstream users. This provision takes effect on January 1, 2027.”
How Should Companies Prepare?
What advice would you give companies to ensure compliance with these new regulations?
Dr. Filippo Busolo:“Compliance with the new rules is crucial not only to avoid penalties but also to ensure worker and consumer safety. I strongly recommend that companies start reviewing their label compliance and notification procedures now. Proactive adaptation will not only prevent legal risks but also enhance their reputation and build trust with customers.”

It marks the beginning of a new journey — a fresh perspective on the world of industrial paint stripping. We’ve always believed in the power of communication, in telling real stories about our sector. We’ve done it through technical content, with concrete case studies designed to help clients and professionals understand how ALIT works. We’ve done it in a human way, putting people before their roles. And yes, we’ve done it creatively — with color, personality, and a touch of irreverence. And we’re still doing it. UNCOATED brings all of this together, but with a sharper edge, a stronger voice, and a desire to go even deeper.
Because UNCOATED is something else.
It feels even more like us. A magazine that talks about equipment, chemistry, production processes, and sustainability — but with a different voice. A voice that wants to tell the story of industry as it really is: alive, concrete, and constantly evolving.
What we’ve always avoided is uniformity — doing things a certain way just because “that’s how it’s done.” That mindset doesn’t fit us. That’s why we created UNCOATED: our magazine about industrial paint stripping!
Don’t be fooled by the bizarre visuals, the bright colors, or the bold graphics. Beneath the surface, there’s real substance. Because yes, it’s absolutely a magazine about industrial paint stripping. Made in our own way.
And if you know us, you know — it’s never just about the look. 😉
We’re excited to share our latest initiative: taking on the maintenance of the green area adjacent to our headquarters in San Bonifacio. Entrusted to us by the local municipality, this small corner of nature is now under our care. With dedication and responsibility, we’ll ensure it stays neat and well-maintained—mowing the lawn, tending to the plants, and keeping everything in pristine condition.
This project fills us with pride as it reflects our commitment not only to environmental sustainability but also to enhancing the spaces around us for the benefit of our community.
One delightful feature of this initiative is the occasional visit from local shepherds, who bring their flocks to graze in the area. These sheep play a natural role in maintaining the green space, highlighting the harmony between tradition and sustainability. This collaboration strengthens our bond with the local territory and its heritage while benefiting the environment.
In parallel, we’ve also revamped our corporate garden. Though modest in size, it has been transformed into a welcoming space with lush greenery and a design that reflects our focus on detail and environmental care. Our goal is to create a serene spot where everyone can take a break from their daily routine and enjoy the outdoors. We also believe this garden serves as a beautiful first impression for visitors to our headquarters.
We’re thrilled about these dual initiatives, which we see as tangible ways to contribute to the well-being of our community while enriching the quality of life for those who live and work in the area. Through our dedication to a greener, well-cared-for environment, we’re doing our part to create a space everyone can take pride in.
We are proud to celebrate a significant milestone: 15 years of collaboration between ALIT Technologies and ipcm®, a partnership that has supported the growth of both companies in the surface treatment sector.
It all began in the early 2000s, when Francesco Stucchi – now Editorial and Commercial Director of the international ipcm® magazines – and Loris Rossi met for the first time. Both deeply involved in the industry, they quickly built a relationship founded on mutual respect and a shared vision.
When their paths led them toward entrepreneurship, collaboration was a natural choice: ALIT Technologies was founded in 2006, followed in 2009 by eos Mktg&Communication, the publisher of ipcm®. Since then, the two companies have grown side by side, becoming international benchmarks and participating together in major events and trade fairs within the sector.
Today, this partnership goes beyond a simple client/supplier relationship. Through ipcm®, ALIT promotes its image as a dynamic, innovative, and ever-evolving company, while ipcm® gains access to high-quality technical content about ALIT’s solutions, all while maintaining the impartiality and objectivity that define its editorial work.
This relationship is also a human bond, built on mutual respect and shared experiences that have stood the test of time.
We look to the future with excitement, confident that this collaboration will continue to be a source of growth, innovation, and inspiration for both companies.
From March 5th to 7th, 2025, we participated in MECSPE, the leading international trade fair for manufacturing in Bologna.
For ALIT, it was our first time at this event, and as we expected, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. We set up our booth with vibrant colors, a touch of innovation, and a hint of extravagance, creating the perfect mix of technique, passion, and energy. It was an intense three days during which we made new connections and strengthened collaborations with partners and suppliers. The response from visitors exceeded our expectations, and our brochures were in high demand!
We presented some of our flagship solutions: DRIZZLING technology for chromium-free pretreatment of aluminum and ferrous alloys, the robust and compact Fastrip T2 120 Mix, and our signature solution for in-line stripping of hooks and frames, Fastrip ISP.
A major highlight of this edition was the area dedicated to MAS-KING, our new brand for industrial masking. With its bright colors and a vast display of caps, tubes, and tapes, it captured the interest of many professionals and curious visitors, achieving remarkable success. As our Sales Manager, Elena Giusti, pointed out:
“I’m pleased with the turnout and the curiosity that Mas-king attracted during this event. It was a pleasure to meet our loyal customers, who took the opportunity to visit us.“
Throughout the three days, we were also joined by our friends from UCIF, to whom we dedicated a space in our booth, allowing them to present the association and expand their network of collaborators.
Finally, true to ALIT tradition, we set up a dedicated photo area where everyone could stop by for a snapshot! This time, we chose a setting inspired by our homeland: the Venetian vineyard. With a small “old tavern-style” table, we had fun recreating the atmosphere of a lunch among the vines, taking photos to evoke the charm of times gone by.
In conclusion, we can confidently say that this trade fair was a great success for ALIT. We are happy with the results achieved, the interest generated, and, above all, we are confident that the relationships built during these three days will prove to be fruitful and long-lasting. One of the aspects that impressed us the most was the strong participation of young students from schools and universities, demonstrating a renewed interest in the manufacturing world among the new generations.
A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit us—see you at the next fair!
In an industrial landscape increasingly focused on efficiency and sustainability, the decision to manage paint-stripping processes internally is becoming a significant shift for many companies in the coatings industry. This approach, compared to traditional outsourcing, offers clear advantages in terms of cost, time, and quality control.
